Food
Safety
Month

In its
ongoing
commitment
to food
safety,
the
Michigan
Restaurant
Association
(MRA)
and the
National
Restaurant
Association
(NRA)
has
announced
this
years
National
Food
Safety
Month
(NFSM)
theme,
The
Future
of Food
Safety.
Free
resources
are
available
to
restaurant
operators
at
michiganfoodsafety.com/nfsm.
Food
safety
resources
are an
essential
service
we
provide
to our
members
and to
the
overall
industry,
said
Justin
Winslow,
President
and CEO
of the
Michigan
Restaurant
Association.
This
September,
we will
be
providing
additional
free
tools
for
foodservice
professionals
to
engage
with
their
teams on
how to
best
protect
themselves
and
their
guests
with
food
safety
practices.
With
over
440,000
foodservice
jobs in
the
state,
the
culture
of food
safety
is not
just the
responsibility
of one
person.
It takes
the
entire
team
working
together
to make
sure
food is
served
safely
and we
are
doing
everything
in our
power to
guarantee
this
happens.
NFSM,
recognized
each
September,
was
created
in 1994
to
heighten
the
awareness
of food
safety
education.
Each
year, a
new
theme is
featured
with
free
training
activities
and
posters
for the
restaurant
and
foodservice
industry
to help
reinforce
proper
food
safety
practices
and
procedures.
New
training
tools
and
resources
are
available
for each
week
including
activities,
posters,
infographics,
and
videos.
The
