Investigators say Dreia Davis was shot at the corner of Emery and Eureka on the city's east side while she talked to some friends at approximately 10:00 p.m. that night.

Mack was arrested Saturday afternoon by Detroit Police on Glastonbury street after a exhaustive investigation that prompted prosecutors to sign a nine-count warrant for his arrest. He was waived as an adult today and arraigned in 36th District Court on charges of assault with intent to commit murder, assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder, felony firearms, felonious assault, and carrying a concealed weapon in a motor vehicle. Mack also was charged with an additional 20-year felony under a recently enacted law making it a felony to commit a crime under the auspices of an organized gang. He is alleged to be a member of the 8 Mile Boyz gang.

Chief Evans thanked his investigators, as well as DPD cadets and a group of volunteer residents who went door to door in that neighborhood seeking information and tips.

"Dreia was an innocent bystander, which makes this case all the more heartbreaking," said Chief Evans, who visited with Dreia's family at the hospital the night of the shooting. "Our investigators never gave up trying to find the person responsible for this reprehensible crime. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Dreia and her family."
