MDOT
holds up
on
lighting
upgrade
along
I-94 in
Detroit
until
after
July 4th
holiday
weekend
DETROIT
- The
Michigan
Department
of
Transportation
(MDOT)
is
delaying
the
start of
a
lighting
project
involving
two
miles of
I-94 in
Detroit
until
after
the July
4th
holiday
weekend.
The
project
that
begins
on
Tuesday,
July 6,
includes
replacement
of more
than
two-dozen
light
poles,
lighting
foundations,
median
barrier
wall and
nine
tower
lights
along
I-94
between
I-96 and
I-75.
The
project
is
expected
to begin
on
Tuesday,
July 6
and will
be split
into two
separate
phases;
the
first
between
I-96 and
M-10,
the
second
between
M-10 and
I-75.
Each
phase is
expected
to take
five
weeks to
complete,
and will
require
a
continuous
left-lane
closure.
Tower
lighting
replacement
will
require
some
short-term
ramp
closures
at the
I-94
interchanges
at I-96,
M-10,
and
I-75.
When
ramp
closures
are
needed,
detours
will be
posted.
This
$1.8
million
project
is
expected
to be
completed
in early
September.
