Detroit PAL celebrates 50 Years of serving the community, with special May 18th Anniversary celebration

Spend an Evening with Detroit’s Sports Heroes and Community Leaders for A Family Field Day Classic: Celebrating Detroit PAL’s 50th Anniversary at The Corner Ballpark

DETROIT - Detroit PAL, a non-profit organization dedicated to positively impacting and building character in the lives of children in Detroit, is proud to present, A Family Field Day Classic: Celebrating Detroit PAL’s 50th Anniversary, brought to you by Meijer. The special, all-star anniversary event will celebrate Detroit Pal’s history and support its future on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. at The Corner Ballpark presented by Adient, the site of historic Tiger Stadium.

The city’s four major sports teams, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Pistons will come together and take over The Corner Ballpark for an evening of family-friendly fun with on-field games. Beyond the sports teams, classic field day games will be available such as sack races, tug-of-war, inflatable obstacle courses and more.

“Our founder, Judith Bayer, had a vision in 1969 to bring Detroit together through community-based sports for our youth, and we’re proud to continue those efforts 50 years later,” said Detroit PAL CEO Tim Richey. “Detroit PAL has been a center for unity, encouragement and support for thousands of children during this time, many of whom have gone on to become community leaders in their own right. We’re so excited to celebrate this milestone with our Detroit families, past and present, and look to an even brighter future together.”

Guests will also enjoy entertainment from local musicians and modern takes on classic ballpark fare from Detroit’s top chefs, with a spectacular fireworks display closing out the evening. Tickets are priced at $50 for adults and $25 for children; an additional VIP experience beginning at 5 p.m. is also available for $150 per person. Tickets can be purchased at www.detroitpal.org/50th-anniversary-event.

Honorary chairs for the event are Martha F. Ford, Holly and Tom Gores, Christopher Ilitch and his wife Kelle, and Rachel and Nikolai Vitti. Event chairs are Maria Duey and Jennifer Granger.
