Holiday
Meals on
Wheels
delivers
more
than a
meal
DETROIT
- My
office
received
a
thank-you
call
from
Grace, a
woman
living
in
Harper
Woods
who
receives
both our
daily
home-delivered
meals
and our
holiday
meals.
Grace is
homebound,
visually
impaired
and
disabled. She
called
to
express
how
grateful
she is,
and
these
are her
words…
“I
cannot
imagine
my life
without
your
help. I
look
forward
to the
meals
and
visits. I
do not
have any
living
family
members
and
appreciate
the way
you care
for
me. I do
not have
much but
want to
make a
small
donation
to the
agency.” –

The
Detroit
Area
Agency
on Aging
(DAAA)
cares
for the
vulnerable
and
advocates
for the
well-being
of all
residents
age 60+
in our
region. We
need
your
support
to help
ensure
that
people
like
Grace
can age
with
dignity
and the
quality
of life
we all
deserve.
DAAA is
committed
to
raising
$100,000
this
holiday
season
to serve
the
growing
number
of
home-bound
seniors
and
people
with
disabilities
in our
region. While
Meals on
Wheels
is a
federally
funded
program
that
provides
meals to
home-bound
seniors
during
the
week, it
unfortunately,
does not
cover
the cost
of meals
on the
weekend
or
holidays.
Holiday
Meals on
Wheels
is a
grassroots
program
solely
funded
by
individual
and
corporate
donations. We
count on
over 500
volunteers
and
donors
to help
pack and
serve up
to 6000
homebound
seniors
during
four
holidays
–
Thanksgiving,
Christmas,
Easter
Sunday
and
Labor
Day. Their
smiles
and good
wishes
deliver
more
than
meals
–
they
deliver
joy and
caring.
We need
you!
We are
only as
strong
as our
network
of
support.
Please
donate
$10,
$25,
$100 or
more
today
and help
us
serve homebound
seniors
and
disabled
adults a
holiday
meal.
Your
gift
will
provide
not only
life’s
essentials,
but so
much
more to
those in
need
this
holiday.
