Relive the Roaring 20's at the Kidney Ball and help raise $500K for Michiganders with kidney disease and its prevention

This year’s Live Auction features Superbowl LIII tickets at the 14th annual National Kidney Foundation of Michigan event

DETROIT, MICH. - Start your holiday season on Saturday, December 1st at the 2018 National Kidney Foundation of Michigan Kidney Ball. Enjoy stepping back to the elegantly fun era of flappers in fringed dresses and long pearls, art deco, and The Great Gatsby. The 14th annual Kidney Ball will be held at the Westin Book Cadillac Detroit, at 1114 Washington Boulevard. No Prohibition at this event, with a cocktail hour featuring an open bar, appetizers, champagne cocktails, and a beer and wine tasting, starting at 6:00 pm. Enjoy holiday shopping along several hallways of over 250 eclectic silent auction items, including the popular Kids Auction Toy Room. Dinner is at 7:30 p.m. followed by a short program and an exciting live auction. This year’s live auction will feature Superbowl LIII tickets, a Detroit Tigers one-of-a kind-experience, and a unique stay at a Villa in Italy. After the auction, dance to Your Generation in Concert (YGIC) in the Venetian Ballroom.

New this year! The NKFM is selling separate tickets for those not attending the Kidney Ball who wish to come for just the after-party from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Sponsored by Madison Heights Glass, the “Party Hard Speakeasy”-themed after-party includes an open bar, beer tasting, dancing to YGIC, late night Coneys, and the candy “bar”. The Party Hard Speakeasy ticket, which is $100 per person, also includes access to mobile bidding on Kidney Ball silent auction items prior to the auction close.

The Kidney Ball is considered to be “the most fun black tie event in metro Detroit” and is attended annually by more than 400 business executives and community leaders. The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan expects to raise $500,000 for its many community programs and services that help over 900,000 Michigan residents living with chronic kidney disease, and the many more at risk.

“We’re so excited to be holding this signature event,” said Linda Smith-Wheelock, president and CEO of the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan. “People talk about it every year. The best part for us is that the funds we raise at the Kidney Ball are used to educate and assist the nearly one million people in Michigan with chronic kidney disease. The funds are also used for lifestyle and health improvement programs to help prevent 70% of new cases of kidney disease.”

The 2018 Kidney Ball Honorary Co-Chairs are Duane McLean, Executive Vice President, Business Operations, Detroit Tigers; and Scott LaRiche, Executive Manager and Vice President, Lou LaRiche Chevrolet. The Committee Co-Chairs are Jon Krebs, President, Madison Heights Glass Company, Inc; and Jeff Chandler, Executive Vice President – Surety, VTC Insurance Group.

The 2018 Kidney Ball is sponsored by Madison Heights Glass Company, Inc; Meijer; Mars Wrigley Confectionery; Miller Coors; E. & J. Gallo Winery, among many others.

Tickets for the Kidney Ball, which include the Party Hard Speakeasy after-party, are $350 per guest. Tickets for just the after-party are $100 and limited, so pre-registration is required.
