Community
Foundation
for
Southeast
Michigan
has
named
Michael
J. Mirto
as its
new vice
president
of
Philanthropic
Services.
Mirto
currently
serves
as
associate
vice
president
of
Individual
Giving
at Wayne
State
University.
“We

Michael
to the
Community
Foundation,”
said
Community
Foundation
for
Southeast
Michigan
President
Mariam
C.
Noland.
“His
passion
for
philanthropy
and
expertise
in
fundraising,
in
addition
to his
ability
to help
donors
make a
difference
in their
communities,
will
strengthen
the
region
and the
Community
Foundation.”
Mirto
will
start at
the
Community
Foundation
on
September
4. He
brings
extensive
fundraising
experience
to the
role,
including
more
than 18
years of
progressively
impactful
community
development,
philanthropic
and
nonprofit
management
experience.
In his
most
recent
role, he
served
on the
Wayne
State
University
Vice
President’s
leadership
team for
the
Division
of
Development
and
Alumni
Affairs.
He was a
key
leader
in the
University’s
first
two
comprehensive
campaigns,
the
first of
which
greatly
exceed
its $500
million
goal in
2009.
Mirto
has a
Bachelor
of
Science
in
Environmental
Studies
and
Applications
from
Michigan
State
University
and a
Master
of
Instructional
Technology
from
Wayne
State
University.
Giving
back to
the
community
is
important
to
Mirto.
He has
served
as a
volunteer
on the
HOPE
Fund
Committee
of the
Community
Foundation
for the
past 11
years.
