  Significant arrest of a South Bend, Indiana man for illegal dumping

DETROIT, MI – A male suspect from the state of Indiana was taken into custody in connection with three illegal dumping incidents that took place on the city’s westside.

On December 13, 2018, while investigating an unrelated dumping case, General Assignment officers reviewed footage and discovered an illegal dumping incident that occurred on December 6, 2018, involving an unknown male suspect in a 2007 blue Chrysler Town & Country. The suspect had dumped a large amount of debris on the street.

Through further investigation, the officers observed two identify two additional incidents of the same suspect dumping debris in the same area and vehicle, on December 8 and 12.

On January 3, 2019, officers located the suspect, who admitted to dumping debris at the location. He was taken into custody without incident, and his vehicle was impounded under the Blight Code.

Investigators submitted a warrant package to the Wayne County Prosecuting Office for review, and was approved for the following charges:

Three (3) counts of Littering on Private Property, for a total of $1,500 in fines.

The suspect, identified as 46-year old Khadum Khazaly of South Bend, Indiana, was arraigned on these charges on January 4, 2019.
