  Suspect arrested in connection with eastside sex killings

DETROIT, MI – The Detroit Police Department has located a person of interest wanted in connection with the sexual assaults/homicides (serial rapist) on the city's eastside. The suspect was taken into custody Friday night around 7:30 p.m in the area of 7 mile and Gratiot near a bus stop.

Deangelo Kenneth Martin, who police believe responsible for the three murders is described as a black male, 34, 5’9”, 160 lbs., black hair, brown eyes. He is known to be homeless and frequents the city’s eastside.

The first victim was discovered on March 19, at 4:25 p.m. in the area of I-75 and Coventry.

Victim two was found on May 24 at 7:22 p.m. in the area of Linhurst & Schoenherr, and the third victim discovered on June 5 at 5:10 a.m. in the area of Mack Ave. and Mt. Elliott.

The three locations where the bodies were found are vacant homes in well known narcotic areas. The victims were found without clothes in all three incidents, and they all appeared to be in their late 40’s to mid-50’s.
