SOUTHFIELD,
MI -
Patrick
Coleman
is
hoping
that the
fourth

the
charm.
The

Beans &
Cornbread
has come
very
close
before
to a
Steve
Harvey
Neighborhood
Award as
the
nation’s
Best
Soul
Food
restaurant.
“Beans &
Cornbread
is a
4-time
nominee,
and … it
almost
feels as
if we
are the
Susan
Lucci of
these
awards,”
quipped
Coleman,
referencing
the
longtime
“All My
Children”
actress
who
failed
to win
an Emmy
after 18
nominations.
“We want
to get
over
that. We
don’t
want to
be the
Susan
Lucci.”
Voting

Coleman,
whose

opened
18 years
ago.
“When
you
think of
Detroit,
you
think of
music,
you
think of
cars;
why not
have it
also be
the
location
of the
best
soul
food
restaurant
in the
country?”
Beans &
Cornbread
