Fair

demonstrations

DETROIT
-
Emergencies
can
occur
without
notice,
so it’s
important
to be
prepared
in
advance.
To help
the
community
learn
about
emergency
preparedness,
the
Detroit
Local
Emergency
Planning
Committee
will
hold its
first
Emergency
Preparedness
Fair on
Saturday,
August
17,
2019,
from 10
a.m. to
2 p.m.
at
Kemeny
Recreation
Center,
located
at 2260
S. Fort
Street.
Attendees
can
learn
about
the
public’s
right to
know
about
hazardous
chemical
releases
and
receive
informational
material
regarding
important
emergency
preparedness
tips and
resources.
The fair
will
also
have
free
refreshments
and
children’s
activities,
including
Bounce
Houses,
playscape,
games,
and face
painting.
Attendees
will be
able to
speak
with
emergency
preparedness
agencies
and
local
companies,
including
the
Local
Emergency
Planning
Committee,
Detroit
Fire
Department,
Detroit
Police
Department,
Detroit
Health
Department,
Marathon
Petroleum
Corporation
and PVS
Chemicals.
The fair
will
also
feature
the
following
activities:
Blood
pressure
checks,
asthma
education,
Detroit
Fire
Dept.
Mobile
Safety
House,
Marathon
Air
Monitoring
Command
Vehicle,
Detroit
Police
Department
Air
Support
Helicopter,
Bomb
Squad,
K-9
Units
and
Underwater
Recovery
Demonstrations.
In
addition,
attendees
will be
able to
sign up
for
Marathon
Alert
Notifications.
