collecting The
Successful
Educational
Seminar
and Live
Art
Auction
Returns
This
Month
SOUTHFIELD,
MI---The
Torch of
Wisdom
Foundation
(TOWF)
in
partnership
with the
Detroit
Fine
Arts
Breakfast
Club
(DFABC)
and
National
Conference
of
Artists
Michigan
(NCA)
will
host an
educational
seminar
and live
art
auction
focused
on
creating
generational
wealth
through
art
collection.
The
educational
seminar
will
take
place on
Sunday,
September
22 at 3
p.m. at
Northwest
Activities
Center
located
at 18100
Meyers
Road in
Detroit.
The
seminar
will
provide
insight
on how
to
purchase
original
art to
build an
art
collection
and
serve as
an
opportunity
to
preview
before
the live
art
auction.
The live
art
auction
will be
held the
following
week on
Sunday,
September
29 at 4
p.m. at
the TOWF
Plaza
(located
at 21819
W. Nine
Mile
Road in
Southfield).
This
year’s
auction
will
feature
work
from
over 30
Metro
Detroit
artists.
“The
Torch of
Wisdom
Foundation
prides
itself
on
creating
programming
and
funding
that
meets a
need in
the
community,”
says
Yolanda
Durfield,
President
and
Board
Chair,
TOWF.
“The Art
Extravaganza
event
not only
is a
unique
experience
but it
supports
local
artists
while
educating
the
public
on how
to
create
wealth.”
The
Torch of
Wisdom
Foundation
and the
Detroit
Fine
Arts
Breakfast
Club
recruited
artists
to
submit
entries
for
consideration
for the
live art
auction.
Artists
were
allowed
to
submit
at least
two
entries.
The
entries
received
were
juried
by a
selection
committee
to the
final
pieces
that
will be
for sale
during
the live
auction.
An added
element
to this
year’s
live art
auction
is a
gift
donated
by
Detroit
Fine
Arts
Breakfast
Club
members
and
Paramour
Art
owners,
Karen
and Ed
Ogul
that
will be
awarded
to the
1st, 2nd
and 3rd
place
artists
as
determined
by the
selection
committee.
Stephen
and
Jacque
Lewis
Kemp of
Kemp
Funeral
Home and
Cremation
Services
will
serve as
Honorary
Chairpersons
for the
events.
