  Detroit Youth Choir, former Detroit Mayor Archer announced as Grand Marshals for 93rd America’s Thanksgiving Parade® presented by Art Van

“Detroit Shining Bright” announced as parade theme celebrating what is possible in Detroit

DETROIT – The Parade Company today announced the Detroit Youth Choir led by director Anthony White and former Detroit Mayor Dennis W. Archer will serve as Grand Marshals for the 93rd America’s Thanksgiving Parade® presented by Art Van. The Detroit Youth Choir captured hearts across the country and world with their golden-buzzer performances on NBC’s America’s Got Talent. The Honorable Dennis W. Archer served as Detroit’s Mayor from 1994 to 2001 and on the Michigan Supreme Court from 1986-1990.

The Detroit Youth Choir will open the 93rd America’s Thanksgiving Parade® presented by Art Van. The Choir will also give a special performance on the main stage at Hob Nobble Gobble presented by Ford Motor Company as they open for Grammy Award-winning artist Nelly, presented by 98.7 The Breeze, at The Parade Company’s largest fundraiser at Ford Field on Friday, November 22.

An iconic Detroit leader who continues to advance the community, Dennis W. Archer served as Detroit’s Mayor from 1994 to 2001 and was on the Michigan Supreme Court. Archer has a distinguished career in law including Chairman Emeritus at Dickinson Wright PLLC and President of the American Bar Association (2003-2004). He was also the Chairman, Board of Directors of the Detroit Regional Chamber (2006-2007). Archer was a 2016 ABA Medal Recipient of the American Bar Association and named "Most Respected Judge in Michigan" by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.

“Detroit Shining Bright” has been announced as the theme of the 93rd America’s Thanksgiving Parade® presented by Art Van. The theme celebrates Detroit in the national spotlight and what is possible in our great city. The Parade Company will make a series of announcements for the 93rd year including new float builds and celebrities.

The Parade will be broadcast on WDIV-Local 4 with pre-parade coverage beginning at 6 am with celebrity interviews. The Parade preshow begins at 9 am and America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Art Van is from 10am – 12pm, including a one-hour syndicated national broadcast from 10 -11am reaching more 185 major cities across the country.
