DETROIT
– The
Rocket
Mortgage
Classic
today
announced
that
registration
for its
Birdies
for
Charity
program
is now
open for
the 2020
tournament,
scheduled
for May
25-31 at
Detroit
Golf
Club.
All
registered
501(c)(3)
organizations
can
register
by
visiting
RocketMortgageClassic.com,
selecting
“Charity”
and then
clicking
on
“Birdies
for
Charity.”
The
turnkey
program
is
completely
free for
participating
organizations,
with 100
percent
of the
proceeds
directed
to the
nonprofits.
Through
the
program,
all
registered
nonprofit
organizations
who
apply
can
collect
two
types of
contributions
– a flat
dollar
amount
or a
donation
based on
the
total
number
of
birdies
(strokes
below
par on a
hole)
made by
PGA TOUR
pros
during
the four
rounds
of
tournament
play.
The
lower
the golf
scores,
the
greater
the
impact
for
local
nonprofits.
With no
administrative
fees or
heavy
lifting,
this
turnkey
program
is a
unique
and
proven
way to
raise
significant
funding
for
nonprofits.
Serving
as a
launchpad
for
long-term
positive
impact,
the
Rocket
Mortgage
Classic’s
Birdies
for
Charity
program
is
designed
to help
increase
the
amount
of
positive
change
generated
by the
PGA
TOUR’s
first
event
ever
held
within
the city
of
Detroit.
The
inaugural
Rocket
Mortgage
Classic
raised
well
over
$100,000
through
its
Birdies
for
Charity
program,
nearly
all of
which
benefited
local
Detroit
organizations.
The
Girls
Golf
Program
sponsored
by the
Michigan
Women’s
Golf
Association
(MWGA)
had the
most
individual
donors
out of
all
participating
nonprofits
in the
2019
Birdies
for
Charity
program.
“The
Girls
Golf
Program
sponsored
by the
Michigan
Women’s
Golf
Association
is
grateful
to the
Rocket
Mortgage
Classic
and its
Birdies
for
Charity
program
because
the
money
raised
from our
members
and
girls
golf
program
supporters
allowed
us to
enroll
an
all-time
high
number
of
junior
golfers,”
said
Francine
Pegues,
Director
of the
Girls
Golf
Program.
“I was
able to
distribute
and
collect
the
pledge
forms at
all our
events
and have
a link
on our
website
that
connected
to the
online
donor
form.
The
program
was easy
to use,
and we
are
looking
forward
to the
opportunity
to
participate
in
Birdies
for
Charity
again!”
Including
the
funds
raised
through
the
Birdies
for
Charity
program,
the
Rocket
Giving
Fund
recently
announced
the
distribution
of more
than
$1.2
million
–
$900,000
of which
went to
the
tournament’s
primary
charitable
beneficiaries
and more
than
$1.1
million
which
went to
Detroit-based
organizations.
The
Rocket
Giving
Fund is
the
charitable
arm of
the
Rocket
Mortgage
Classic,
and
directs
the net
proceeds
from the
event to
designated
nonprofits.
“We were
all
inspired
by the
success
of our
Birdies
for
Charity
program
in its
first
year,
and we
encourage
all
nonprofits
to
participate
during
the 2020
Rocket
Mortgage
Classic,”
said
Jason
Langwell,
Executive
Director
of the
Rocket
Mortgage
Classic.
“The
program
is free
to all
participating
organizations,
and the
platform
of the
Rocket
Mortgage
Classic
is great
for
increasing
visibility
and
soliciting
donations
to
support
the
mission
of each
organization.
Along
with the
contributions
made to
our
primary
charitable
beneficiaries,
we’re
extremely
proud of
the
impact
that the
Rocket
Mortgage
Classic
had in
its
first
year.”
The
second
playing
of the
Rocket
Mortgage
Classic
is
scheduled
for May
25-31,
2020 at
Detroit
Golf
Club,
with a
new
Memorial
Day
start.

opportunities,
