DETROIT
(Tell Us
Det) -
Detroit
recovered
from its
loss
against
the Utah
Jazz
with a
win over
the
Orlando
Magic.
The
Pistons
hosted
the
Magic at
Little
Caesars
Arena on
Wednesday
to a
light
crowd.
Dwane
Casey
says he
is not
surprised
at game
attendance
lately.
“People
are not
gonna
pay
their
hard-earned
money
until
you
prove
it…the
only
thing
the fans
understand
is
winning.
We have
to earn
it and I
understand
that,”
says the
Pistons
head
coach.
Prove
it, they
did. And
they
absolutely
earned
it.
Detroit
struggled
to keep
up with
the pace
Orlando
set from
the
beginning
of the
game,
trailing
behind
them for
most of
the
first
half.
The
Pistons
managed
to fight
for a
tie near
the end
of the
second
quarter
thanks
to Blake
Griffin,
the
game’s
top
scorer.
In
spite of
an
impressive
3 by
Langston
Galloway
and
Griffin
putting
up
another
four
points
right
after,
the
Magic
was
still
ahead at
the
close of
the
first
half,
63-58.
Ish
Smith
woke
Little
Caesars
Arena up
in the
third
quarter
with a
notable
27-foot,
3-point
jump
shot.
The
second
half saw
the
Pistons
consistently
ahead of
the
Magic
for the
first
time
during
the
game.
Detroit
dominance
continued
into the
fourth
quarter.
As
Orlando
scrambled
to use
the same
swift
passes
that
bested
Detroit
in the
first
half,
Detroit
responded
forcefully.
With
32
seconds
left in
the
game,
the
score
was tied
at 109.
Griffin
missed a
Hail
Mary
shot at
the
buzzer
that
ended
regulation.
The
Pistons
seemed
to learn
its
lesson
from the
first
half:
don’t
give an
inch.
The
offense
from
Detroit
was
relentless
and,
somehow,
the
Magic
that
entered
LCA was
no
longer
present
by the
middle
of
overtime.
Overall,
Orlando
played a
youthful
game of
fast-passed
basketball,
complete
with
full-court
presses
and dunk
shots.
It
just
wasn’t
enough.
Detroit
won,
120-115,
in
overtime.
