Men and
families
impacted
by Roe v
Wade!
By Trey
Battle
Roe v.
Wade has
had its
impact
on women
across
the
country
and
continues
to be a
hotly
debated
topic,
especially
as we
approach
the
mid-term
elections.
Abortion
for many
is
healthcare,
that
they
must
control.
Opponents
however
believe
a
woman’s
right to
reproductive
health
should
be
illegal.
Aside
from the
major
aspect
that
this
personal
liberty
should
not be
regulated
by the
government,
there is
a chain
reaction
impacting
Americans.
Men,
both
married
and
single,
are
increasingly
needing
to make
decisions
regarding
their
sexual
health.
According
to Dr.
Christian
Hettinger
with
Kansas
City
Urology
Care,
“We’re
up 900
percent
in
people
looking
to get a
vasectomy.”
The
Cleveland
Clinic,
in fact,
said it
normally
gets
three to
four
requests
a day
for
vasectomies
but that
it got
90 in
the
first
five
days
following
the
decision
to
overturn
Roe v.
Wade.
Though
inflation
and gas
prices
are on
the top
of most
people’s
minds,
the
court's
controversial
ruling
gives
individual
states
the
power to
set
their
own
abortion
laws. An
even
bigger
concern,
is the
chain
reaction
of civil
rights
laws
that
some
legislators
are
targeting,
including
contraception,
same-sex
marriage,
and the
voting
rights
act.
“This
ruling
has
created
a tear
in the
moral
fabric
of this
country
and has
serious
potential
to
destroy
other
protected
rights,”
says
Erica
Barnes
of
Detroit,
MI. “I’m
motivated
now,
more
than
ever, to
express
my point
of view
in the
voting
booth”.
