Archdiocese
of
Detroit
invites
Catholics
to
‘prepare
their
hearts
for the
Lord’
during
Advent
with
daily
Eucharistic
Holy
Hours
DETROIT
- The
Archdiocese
of
Detroit
invites
the
faithful
and
entire
community
to
celebrate
Advent
with
daily
Eucharistic
Holy
Hours at
parishes
throughout
southeast
Michigan.
Advent
is the
liturgical
season
leading
up to
Christmas,
a time
in which
Catholics
prepare
their
hearts
for the
Lord as
they
prepare
their
homes
for the
holidays.
It
begins
this
year on
Sunday,
November
27 and
concludes
on
Christmas
Eve,
December
24.
The
Archdiocese
this
year has
partnered
with
parishes
to offer
special
Eucharistic
Holy
Hours at
7 p.m.
every
day of
Advent,
as part
of its I
AM HERE
campaign
launched
in June
to
inspire
people
to
encounter
Jesus
Christ
in the
Eucharist
and
experience
His
transformational
power. A
Catholic
“holy
hour” is
the
devotional
tradition
of
spending
an hour
in
Eucharistic
adoration
in the
presence
of the
Blessed
Sacrament,
the Body
and
Blood of
Christ
in the
form of
consecrated
bread
and
wine.
The
first
Holy
Hour
will
take
place on
at 7
p.m.
November
27 at
the
Cathedral
of the
Most
Blessed
Sacrament,
9844
Woodward
Avenue
in
Detroit.
A full
schedule
of Holy
Hours is
available
at
iamhere.org/advent.
All are
welcome.
To
further
assist
the
faithful
in
preparing
their
hearts
during
this
holy
season,
the
Archdiocese
also
offers
massfinder.org
and
confessionsfinder.org
for
Catholics
and
others
seeking
nearby
options
to
attend
Holy
Mass or
confession.
Also
known as
penance
or
reconciliation,
confession
is the
Catholic
sacrament
of
forgiveness
in which
penitents
are
absolved
from
their
sins and
reconciled
with the
Christian
community.
