Too

DETROIT
-
Spectacular!
Engaging!
Sensational!
are all
words
that
describe
the play
being
performed
at The
Opera
House in
downtown
Detroit.
The
event
was like
a
Hollywood
evening
complete
with a
red
carpet,
beautiful
sunset,
and
reporters.
Cameras
and crew
stood
anxiously
awaiting
the
arrival
of cars
carrying
special
guests.
The
Detroit
Youth
Choir
was
belting
out one
MoTown
song
after
another.
Marvin
Gaye was
smiling
down,
I’m sure
while
snapping
his
fingers
and
moving
in his
cool
fashion
to
“What’s
Goin’
On”. The
prelude
to a
great
evening
of
entertainment
was set
just
right.
The
Temptations
represent
history
around
the
globe so
the
anticipation
was
electrifying.
One
essential
stated
by all
who were
associated
with
Motown
is
discipline.
Dennis
Bowls,
son of
late
Musical
Director-Beans
Bowls
and
Melvin
Moy,
brother
of the
late
Sylvia
Moy,
songwriter
pointed
out
examples
shown
throughout
the
years.
Cars
kept
coming
and
doors
opening
to
reveal
one
MoTown
personality
after
another.
Highlighting
the
red-carpet
evening
was the
last
surviving
member
of the
Temptations,
Otis
Williams.
He
looked
as
smooth
and cool
as his
singing
voice
complete
with a
straw
hat and
a broad
grin.
When
asked
about
his fond
memories,
he
stated
that all
were
done
with a
goal of
excellence
in mind
but “My
Girl” is
just one
standout.
Lights,
Action,
Curtain
Up, and
Charisma
introduced
sounds
and
movement
to “The
Way You
Do The
Things
You Do”.
This
began
the
evening
of
absolute
bliss.
Of
course,
the
audience
was
truly
engaged.
It’s
difficult
to point
out any
one or
two
things
that
were
outstanding.
They all
were
equally
great.
In
the end,
there
was a
standing
ovation
and a
house
full of
‘
Temptations’
sing-along
singers.
Broadway
was
brought
to
Detroit.
