The

There
are so
many
exciting
events
leading
up to
this
annual
jaw
dropping
main
event,
and each
one is
an
exciting
event
you
won’t
forget;
Hob
Knobble
Gobble,
on
Friday
night,
The
Turkey
Trott
early on
Thanksgiving
morning
just
before
the
parade
begins.
and of
course,
the 31st
annual
Skillman
Float
Design
Contest.
This
year's
Skillman
Foundation
Float
Contest
theme
is, "A
Perfect
World,
Built by
Kids!”
It is
amazing
to
unwrap
the
creative
designs
that
young
students
come up
with
each
year.
Unfortunately,
only one
design
is
selected
when
there
are so
many
creative,
well-done
designs.
The Hob
Nobble
Gobble
event on
Friday
night
was a
magical
night in
Detroit
when
adults
can
enjoy
the
delightful
fantasies
of the
holiday
season
all
under
one
roof.
Imagine;
Stars,
dancing,
endless
games,
carnival
rides,
cotton
candy
and
other
wonderful
treats
all on
the 50
yard
line at
Ford
Field.
This
festive
night of
family
fun and
fantasy
is an
important
fundraiser
for
America’s
Thanksgiving
Parade,
which is
a
holiday
tradition
in
Detroit
and one
of the
country’s
oldest
and most
celebrated
parades.
Also on
Friday,
The
Skillman
Foundation
and The
Parade
Company
announced
the
winner
of the
31st
Annual
Float
Design
Contest,
Tahiry
Gosby, a
4th
grader

Emerson
Elementary-Middle
School.
The
winning

titled
“World
Business
Design”

showcased
in the
Thanksgiving

on
Thursday.
Also,
five
Detroit
students
were
awarded
honorable

and
their
incredible
work
will be
displayed
around
the

of the

“Our
purpose
at The
Skillman
Foundation
is to
listen
to young
people
and to
support
them to
achieve
their
boldest
dreams.
In turn,
they
inspire
us with
their
creativity,
tenacity,
positivity,
and
their
fresh
take on
what’s
possible
for our
collective
future.
That’s
exactly
what
this
float
design
contest
is all
about.
We
reached
out to
Detroit
kids and
asked
them
what a
world
designed
by youth
would
look
like.
We’re
ecstatic
to see
their
genius
come to
life,”
said
Angelique
Power,
president
& CEO of
The
Skillman
Foundation.
“The
Skillman
Foundation
float
unveil
is a
special
day for
us each

said
Tony
Michaels,
president
& CEO of
The
Parade
Company.
“It is a
thrill
to
celebrate
these
incredibly
talented
young
student
artists
and we
look
forward
to
showcasing
the
beautiful

float on
Thanksgiving
morning.”
