from all

Saturday
morning
to bid a

Francis
at his

the

of Rome,
watching
in

as his

of Saint
Mary
Major.
The
profound
and
moving
ceremony
was led
by
Cardinal
Giovanni

Re,
accompanied
by some
250
Cardinals,
Patriarchs,
Archbishops,
Bishops,
priests,
and
consecrated
religious,
all
united
in their
final
tribute.
In his
homily,
the Dean
of the
College
of
Cardinals
reflected
on the
defining
moments
of Pope
Francis’
remarkable
and
deeply
felt
twelve
years of
Petrine
Ministry.
He spoke
of the
Pope’s
unwavering
closeness
to the
people,
the
spontaneity
of his
gestures,
and
above
all, his
immense
love for
the
Church—one
that he
strived
to keep
open to
all
until
his very
last
breath.
