Focus
aimed at
reaching
more
children

Detroit

MI –
Make-A-Wish®
Michigan
announced
it
received
a
$25,000
gift
from
Schostak
Brothers
& Co. to
help
grant
wishes
to
Detroit
children
battling
critical
illnesses.
The
organization,
which
grants
wishes
to
children
in the
entire
state,
recently
launched
Detroit
Forward
Focus to
increase
referrals
for
Detroit
children
through
enhanced
outreach
and
community
engagement.
The gift
from
Schostak
Brothers
& Co. is
the
first
significant
gift to
support
this
vital
effort.

In June
2022,
Schostak
Brothers
&
Company
announced
they
will
mark
their
100th
anniversary
with a
community
giving
campaign
to
distribute
$1
million
across
impactful
Detroit-based
nonprofit
organizations.
Selected
from a
range of
nonprofit
sectors
including
neighborhoods,
workforce
development,
education,
health
and
entrepreneurship,
the goal
of the
initiative
was to
select
organizations
based on
their
work in
Detroit,
the city
where
the
company
was
founded
a
century
ago.
The gift
recipients
have
been
chosen
through
an
extensive
selection
process
involving
Schostak
employees,
with the
intent
to aid
the
charity’s
efforts
while
shining
a light
to reach
other
potential
donors.
Make-A-Wish
Michigan
is
locally
based
and
expects
to grant
475
wishes
to
Michigan
children
this
year. A
parent,
legal
guardian
or
medical
professional
can
refer a
child to
Make-A-Wish
Michigan
who
meets
the
following
criteria:
Between
the ages
of 2 ˝
to 18 at
time of
referral,
diagnosed
with a
critical
illness
and has
not
received
a wish
from
another
wish-granting
organization.
Make-A-Wish
Michigan
grants
wishes
to
children
with
critical
illnesses
across
12
different
specialties.
There is
no cost
to the
wish
child or
family
to
receive
a wish.
