World
Festival
delivered
a
celebration
of
culture,
family,
and fun

Thousands
of
guests
from
across
the
nation
and
beyond
gathered
at Hart
Plaza
for the
3-day
festival,
showcasing
the
beauty,
strength,
and
spirit
of the
African
Diaspora.
The
event
featured
performances
across
multiple
stages,
vendors
offering
food,
clothing,
health
products,
visual
arts,
live
demonstrations,
community
resources,
and
more.
The 2024
AWF
Featured
Headliners
included
Third
World,
known
for
their
reggae-fusion
style,
Rapsody,
celebrated
for her
intricate
rhyme
patterns,
metaphors,
and
wordplay,
Thandiswa
Mazwai,
a highly
influential
post-Apartheid
singer
from
South
Africa,
and
Dumpstaphunk,
a funky
band
from New
Orleans
with
deep
musical
roots.
The
festival
highlighted
the
community's
shared
past,
present,
and
future
and
provided
a
platform
for
family,
friends,
and
guests
to
exchange
stories
and
honor
the
past,
present,
and
future.
Special
performances
included
the
Detroit
Youth
Choir,
who were
past
runners-up
on
America’s
Got
Talent,
as well
as other
talented
artists
such as
Fyütch,
Mokoomba,
and
Charity.
The
event
also
featured
notable
acts
such as
Larry
Lee, Vox
Sambou,
Drey
Skonie
and The
kLOUDs
Band,
Mosaic
Youth
Theatre
of
Detroit,
Allen
Dennard,
and the
TeMaTe
Institute
for
Black
Dance
and
Culture.
The
festival
aims to
support
the
Charles
H.
Wright
Museum
members,
so
people
