Vietnam
Veterans
DETROIT
— A
veterans
group is
trying
to help
Detroiters
have a
happy
Thanksgiving
by
offering
a key
component
of the
holiday
meal.
Detroit
Chapter
#9 of
the
Vietnam
Veterans
of
America
will
give
away 100
frozen
turkeys
on
Thursday,
November
7. The
giveaway,
on a
first-come,
first-served
basis,
will
take
place
from
noon-1
p.m. at
the
parking
lot
located
at
Woodward
and
Temple
in
Detroit.
“We want
to help
families
who are
struggling
this
holiday
season
still be
able to
enjoy a
good
meal,”
explained
Paul
Palazzolo,
president
of
VVA#9.
“We also
wanted
to
support
a local
business
in the
process.”
The
turkeys
were
purchased
through
the
Eastern
Market
corporation
and
weigh
18-20
pounds.
This is
the
first
time the
VVA
chapter
has
offered
the
giveaway.
The
chapter
also
hosts an
annual
luncheon
for law
enforcement
officers
and
plays a
key role
in the
Veterans
Day
Parade,
which
will
take
place on
November
10.
