of Cass
Technical
High
School's
Harp
Program
with two
events:
a
Benefit
Concert
on
Friday,
October
24, 2025
(7-9
p.m.)
and Harp
Day on
Saturday,
October
25, 2025
(9
a.m.-6
p.m.).
Founded
in the
early
1920s by
Clarence
Byrne,
the
program
is the
longest-running
public-school
harp
program
in the
nation,
providing
generations
of
Detroit
students
access
to
world-class
music
education.
Under
Director
Lydia
Cleaver,
the
program
continues
to
thrive
on a
modest
budget.
Community
support
helps
maintain
instruments
and keep
the
program
accessible.
