launch
in
February
offer
new
career
opportunities

ages
have the
chance
to make
2025 a
transformative
year by
nurturing
their
curiosity
and
building
essential
STEM
skills
through
DAPCEP’s
renowned
programs.
The
organization's
popular
STEM
Saturday
classes
kick off
on
February
1,
providing
hands-on
learning
experiences
that
pave the
way for
success
in STEM
education
and
careers.
The
significance
of STEM
skills
in
career
development
was
recently
emphasized
by City
of
Detroit
Mayor
Mike
Duggan
at the
Detroit
Auto
Show.
Speaking
at a
Detroit
Regional
Chamber
reception
attended
by the
Detroit
Youth
and
Civic
Engagement
Task
Force,
he
highlighted
how
early
STEM
engagement
is
crucial
for
developing
local
talent
and
expanding
career
opportunities
in the
region.
Since
1976,
DAPCEP
has been
a
pioneer
in early
STEM
education.
Today,
the
organization
offers
Explorers
classes
for
Pre-K
through
3rd-grade
students
and
Pathfinders
classes
for
students
in
grades
4-12.
With 70%
of
DAPCEP
alumni
pursuing
STEM
careers,
any one
of these
courses
could
ignite a
lifelong
passion
for
science,
technology,
engineering,
and
mathematics.

This
semester’s
diverse
course
offerings
include:
Code Zoo
(Grades
5-6):
Students
develop
fundamental
coding
skills
by
designing
a
digital
zoo
habitat.
Mini
Robot
Series
(High
School):
Participants
wire and
program
a
streetlight,
learning
hands-on
engineering
and
programming
skills.
Astronomy
&
Aerospace
Engineering
(Explorers
& Grades
4-5):
Students
explore
stars,
planets,
and the
moon
through
engaging
activities
such as
rocket
building
and
night
sky
observations.
Engineering
Around
the
World
(High
School):
Examining
modern
challenges
faced by
mechanical
engineers
and the
innovative
solutions
they
develop.
Introduction
to
Bioengineering
(High
School):
A
real-world
exploration
of
bioengineering
concepts
and
applications.
Program
Details
Explorers
Classes
(Pre-K -
3rd
Grade):
Beginning
February
1, this
program
harnesses
young
students'
natural
curiosity
through
hands-on
projects
in
astronomy,
biology,
space
science,
and
human
body
systems.
Sessions
run for
eight
Saturdays
in both
fall and
spring.
Pathfinders
Classes
(Grades
4-12):
Launching
February
15, this
program
provides
interactive,
skill-building
experiences
in areas
such as
computer
programming,
zoo
science,
entrepreneurship,
algebra
readiness,
video
game
design,
urban
architecture,
and
artificial
intelligence.
Weekly
modules
build
upon
prior
lessons
and
culminate
in a
final
project
and
post-test.
All
classes
conclude
with a
final
showcase
event at
the
semester's
end.
Registration
fees are
$100 for
the
Explorers
program
and $25
for
Pathfinders
courses.
Financial
assistance
is
available
for
eligible
families,
and
transportation
is
provided
for
select
classes.
