  Detroit's Lafayette Coney Island reopens after health inspection approval, safety improvements

DETROIT - The Detroit Health Department conducted a reinspection of Lafayette Coney Island on Monday, March 3, confirming that the restaurant met the required standards to reopen on Tuesday, March 4.

Chief Public Health Officer Denise Fair Razo addressed the voluntary closure of the establishment, highlighting the measures taken to resolve health concerns raised by Environmental Health Inspectors.

The update also emphasized the ongoing collaboration between the Detroit Health Department and the restaurant to uphold safety standards.


The department also shared the steps being taken to ensure all Detroit restaurants maintain optimal cleanliness and safety standards.

"We take the health and safety of Detroit residents very seriously," said Denise Fair Razo. "Through the Dining with Confidence Ordinance and consistent inspections, we are dedicated to ensuring that our city's restaurants meet the highest food safety standards.

Lafayette Coney Island voluntarily closed to address health concerns and has since reopened due to their diligent efforts.
