‘Sailing
Under
The
Stars’
Charity
Preview
took
place at
the
Bayview
Yacht
Club in
Detroit
on
Saturday
June 30.
The
event
proceeds
will
benefit
six
nonprofit
organizations.
The
first
annual
event,
was set
against
the
backdrop
of the
Detroit
River,
and
featured
food,
fun and
live
entertainment,
with
more
than 25
restaurants
in
attendance
as well
as two
stages
of live
performers
which
set the
evening
off to a
great
start as
guest
dined
and
danced
the
night
away.
All to
benefit
six
local
charities.
Bayview
Commodore
Jeff
Henderson
mentioned
the
positive
affect
the 88th
Bell’s
Beer
Bayview
Mackinac
race has
had on
the
community
as well
as the
importance
of
having
the
event
take
place in
Detroit.
“I’m
just so
happy to
see
people
from
outside
of the
sailing
world
come in
and
experience
what we
probably
take for
granted
every
day”.
“The
Acura
Sailing
Under
the
Stars
Charity
Event is
a great
way to
get
sailing
to a
different
group of
people,”
the
Commodore
said.

“The
race has
significantly
grown
over the
years
with
important
growth
for the
state
producing
a $30 to
$50
million
industry
for
Michigan”
said Jon
Witz,
producer
of
Sailing
Under
The
Stars.
“The
most
important
part of
this
event is
having
an event
that can
showcase
the race
and help
out non
profit
charities,
which
makes it
more
credible,”
he said.
