DETROIT - Enzo Fittipaldi captured his second career INDY NXT by Firestone victory Sunday morning, winning a chaotic race on the Streets of Detroit that featured changing weather conditions and intense midfield battles.

The 23-year-old Brazilian driver, grandson of two-time Indianapolis 500 and Detroit Grand Prix winner Emerson Fittipaldi, charged through the field to claim the checkered flag in the 10:36 a.m. ET contest, which aired on FS1.

Race Highlights
Fittipaldi's victory marked his second INDY NXT win in just over three weeks, following his breakthrough first career victory at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on May 8, 2026, where he also won in wet conditions starting from 10th on the grid.

The Detroit race was described as "chaotic" due to changing weather conditions that tested driver skill and team strategy throughout the event.

Weekend Context
Sunday's INDY NXT race served as the support series for the main NTT IndyCar Series Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix, which is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET today on the same 1.645-mile, nine-turn temporary street course.

The event runs May 29-31 at Detroit, Michigan, with paddock activities and practice sessions taking place throughout the weekend.

Championship Implications
INDY NXT by Firestone championship points are awarded based on race results, pole positions, laps led, and other key factors, making Sunday's victory significant for Fittipaldi's championship campaign.

Alessandro de Tullio entered the weekend in strong form, having earned his fourth consecutive pole position in INDY NXT by Firestone this season, though the championship battle remains tight among the series' top contenders.

Looking Ahead
The INDY NXT series will next compete on June 7 at World Wide Technology Raceway, where drivers will face a different challenge on the oval track layout.

Fittipaldi's back-to-back victories in varying conditions have established him as a force to watch in the 2026 INDY NXT championship, continuing the legendary Fittipaldi racing legacy in American open-wheel racing.
