Mack III
delivered

pressure
Wednesday,
birdieing
the 17th
hole and
surviving
a
two-hole
playoff
to
defeat
Marcus
Byrd and
win the
Advocates
Professional
Golf
Association
event at
The 1912
Club.
The
victory
pushed
Mack’s
APGA
Tour
career
total to
a record
20
titles
and
marked
his
third
win of
the 2026
season,
tying
Byrd for
the tour
lead.
Mack
closed
with a
5-under
67 to
finish
at
8-under
202 for
the
54-hole
tournament.
He
earned
$21,700
from the
$70,000
purse,
along
with a
$10,000
sponsorship
from The
1912
Club.
“Any
time you
win
anywhere,
it’s a
good
feat,”
said
Mack, a
Flint,
Michigan,
native.
“I’m
just
happy I
can keep
playing
golf and
pursuing
my
dreams.
The APGA
has
played a
big part
in that,
and I’m
grateful.
I just
hope I
can
continue
to play
well and
get
through
PGA TOUR
Q School
this
year.”
Playing
in the
final
group
with
Byrd and
Willy
Deus,
Mack
trailed
by three
shots
late in
the
round
before
Byrd
bogeyed
Nos. 16
and 17.
Mack’s
birdie
on 17
pulled
him into
a tie,
and both
players
parred
the 18th
in
regulation
to force
a
playoff.
On both
playoff
holes,
Mack
battled
a sore
right
shoulder
and
errant
drives
to the
right.
On the
second
extra
hole,
his tee
shot
narrowly
avoided
the
fescue,
leaving
him in
the
rough
with a
tree
guarding
the
approach.
He still
managed
to hit a
184-yard
shot
onto the
green
and lag
a
40-foot
birdie
putt to
18
inches
for par.
Byrd
missed a
12-foot
birdie
attempt,
then
lipped
out a
3-footer
that
would
have
extended
the
playoff.
“I’ve
been
having
trouble
with my
driver,
but I
knew if
I could
keep it
in play
and give
myself a
second
shot, I
had a
chance,”
Mack
said.
“Luckily,
I was
able to
make
some big
par
putts.”
David
Kim
finished
third at
7 under,
while
Joey
Stills
and
defending
champion
Chase
Johnson
tied for
fourth
at 6
under.
Byrd,
the
APGA’s
2025
Jeff
Dailey
Player
of the
Year,
has also
won
three
times
this
season,
including
the
Farmers
Insurance
Invitational,
the
Juneteenth
Classic
and the
APGA at
TPC
Deere
Run. He
has
added
strong
results
on the
APGA
Tour
Americas
circuit,
making
six cuts
in nine
starts
with
four
top-25
finishes.
With the
win,
Mack
earned
500
points
and
moved
into the
solo
lead in
both the
Jeff
Dailey
standings
and
Cisco
Cup
Series.
The APGA
Tour
next
heads to
the
MasterCard
Tour
Championship,
scheduled
for Aug.
25–27 at
Baltusrol
Golf
Club’s
Lower
Course
in
Springfield,
New
Jersey.
