DETROIT
— Jahmyr
Gibbs
was the
standout
player
for the
Detroit
Lions,
scoring
three of
his four
touchdowns
in the
second
half to
lead the
team to
a 31-9
victory
over the
Minnesota
Vikings.
This win
secured
their
second
consecutive
NFC
North
title
and a
first-round
bye in
the
playoffs.
“Everybody's
got to
come
through
here,
baby!”
said
Detroit
defensive
end
Za'Darius
Smith
after
the
game.
The
Lions
finished
the
regular
season
with a
record
of 15-2,
while
the
Vikings
ended at
14-3.
Detroit
will
rest
next
week,
while
Minnesota
prepares
to face
the Los
Angeles
Rams.
This
game
marked
the
first
time two
teams
with a
combined
28
victories
faced
off in a
regular-season
finale,
determining
the No.
1 seed
for the
playoffs.
The
Lions
are
aiming
for
their
first
Super
Bowl
appearance
since
1957.
Goff
threw
for 231
yards
with one
touchdown
and two
interceptions,
while
Gibbs
amassed
139
rushing
yards
and
caught
five
passes
for 31
yards.
Minnesota’s
quarterback,
Sam
Darnold,
struggled,
completing
only 44%
of his
passes,
and the
Vikings
went 0
for 4 in
the red
zone.
“Kicking
field
goals
isn’t
going to
get it
done
against
that
team,”
Darnold
said,
reflecting
on
missed
opportunities.
With
their
victory,
the
Lions
hope to
build on
this
momentum
as they
pursue a
championship.
