said the
unveiling
signals
the
start of
Detroit’s
Final
Four
countdown
and an
opportunity
to
showcase
the
city’s
resilience
and
basketball
culture.
NCAA
senior
vice
president
of
basketball
Dan
Gavitt
called
it “a
great
time to
be a
sports
fan in
Michigan,”
noting
more
than six
decades
of March
Madness
events
in
Detroit
and
other
cities
across
the
state.
The
men’s
Final
Four
will
return
to Ford
Field
nearly
two
decades
after
the
stadium
first
hosted
in 2009,
when an
in-the-round
configuration
set new
attendance
benchmarks
for the
event.
That
year,
Michigan
State
reached
the
title
game in
its home
state;
the
university
will
again
serve as
host
institution
in 2027.
Michigan
State
vice
president
and
athletic
director
J Batt
said the
school
is
honored
to host,
emphasizing
that a
Final
Four
trip is
a
season-long
goal for
every
men’s
college
basketball
player.
The host
coalition
also
includes
Visit
Detroit,
the
Detroit
Sports
Commission,
Ford
Field,
the city
of
Detroit
and
Wayne
County.
Beyond
the
games,
the 2027
Final
Four is
expected
to bring
a slate
of fan
festivals,
youth
clinics
and
community
initiatives
tied to
education
and the
student-athlete
experience.
Organizers
say
those
events
will be
designed
to
highlight
Detroit’s
revitalized
downtown,
hospitality
sector
and
status
as a
major
sports
destination.
Visit
Detroit
President
and CEO
Claude
Molinari
said the
city
plans to
shine a
spotlight
on
Detroit
for
visitors
from
across
the
country
and
around
the
world.
Local
officials,
including
Detroit
Mayor
Mike
Duggan
and
Detroit
Lions
President
and CEO
Rod
Wood,
have
also
framed
the
Final
Four as
a
showcase
for the
city’s
continued
growth
and a
boost
for
hotels,
restaurants
and
shops.
Organizers
also
announced
the
launch
of the
event’s
official
website,
FinalFourDetroit.com,
where
fans can
sign up
for
information,
learn
about
ticket
access
and
explore
details
on low-

no-cost
fan
events.
The site
will
also
serve as
the hub
for
recruiting
more
than
2,500
volunteers
who will
help
staff
activities
around
the
region
during
Final
Four
week.
