-The
Rocket
Classic
is
bringing
a new
twist to
tournament
week
with
“Par 3
in the
D,” a
rooftop
golf
challenge
set for
July 28
in
downtown
Detroit.
Six PGA
TOUR
players
— Keegan
Bradley,
Tony
Finau,
Rickie
Fowler,
Russell
Henley,
Xander
Schauffele
and
Cameron
Young —
will hit
tee
shots
from the
roof of
the
Traver |
UBS
building
at 1217
Woodward
Avenue,
aiming
for a
40-by-40-foot
green
roughly
100
yards
away.
The shot
features
a 50- to
60-foot
drop,
sending
balls
over
Woodward
Avenue
and
through
the
Hudson’s
Detroit
corridor
along
Nick
Gilbert
Way.
Each
player
will get
three
attempts.
Tournament
Director
Mark
Hollis
called
the
event a
first-of-its-kind
experience
designed
to bring
golf
into the
heart of
the
city.
The
Rocket
Classic
at
Detroit
Golf
Club
will
also
feature
top-ranked
players
including
Aaron
Rai, Si
Woo Kim
and
Hideki
Matsuyama,
along
with
defending
champion
Aldrich
Potgieter.
