DETROIT -The Rocket Classic is bringing a new twist to tournament week with “Par 3 in the D,” a rooftop golf challenge set for July 28 in downtown Detroit.

Six PGA TOUR players — Keegan Bradley, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Russell Henley, Xander Schauffele and Cameron Young — will hit tee shots from the roof of the Traver | UBS building at 1217 Woodward Avenue, aiming for a 40-by-40-foot green roughly 100 yards away.

The shot features a 50- to 60-foot drop, sending balls over Woodward Avenue and through the Hudson’s Detroit corridor along Nick Gilbert Way. Each player will get three attempts.

Tournament Director Mark Hollis called the event a first-of-its-kind experience designed to bring golf into the heart of the city.

The Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club will also feature top-ranked players including Aaron Rai, Si Woo Kim and Hideki Matsuyama, along with defending champion Aldrich Potgieter.

More information and tickets are available at rocketclassic.com.
