DETROIT
- The
Philadelphia
76ers
defeated
the
Detroit
Pistons,
111-96.
This win
is
notable
given
the
challenges
the team
has
faced
this
season,
and it's
a
welcome
return
to form.
Paul
George
returned
to the
lineup,
but the
Sixers
were
still
missing
Joel
Embiid,
Caleb
Martin,
and Kyle
Lowry.
They
also
lost
Andre
Drummond
to a
rolled
ankle in
the
first
quarter.
Despite
this,
the team
scored
37
points
in the
first
quarter,
their
highest
of the
year.
After
the
Pistons
made a
run, the
Sixers
dominated
the
third
quarter,
outscoring
Detroit
32-17 to
earn
their
first
20-point
lead of
the
season.
This
performance
showcased
the
talent
on a
roster
many had
high
hopes
for,
even
with
several
key
players
unavailable.
Caleb
Martin
stepped
up
significantly,
scoring
19
points
on
7-of-8
shooting
and
contributing
three
blocks.
His
energetic
play was
a
game-changer.
Fellow
bench
player
Council
added a
season-high
17
points,
consistently
attacking
the rim
and
drawing
fouls.
Tyrese
Maxey
had a
slow
first
half but
quickly
found
his
rhythm
after
halftime,
scoring
the
first 10
points
of the
third
quarter
to help
maintain
a
comfortable
lead.
George,
despite
shooting
4-of-12,
made a
notable
impact
with his
playmaking,
recording
four
assists
in the
first
few
minutes.
His
mid-range
game
will
improve
with
more
consistent
playing
time. He
left the
game
after
another
minor
injury
but
Coach
Nick
Nurse
confirmed
it was
precautionary.
Overall,
this
game
marked a
positive
step for
a team
looking
to find
its
momentum.
