Pistons' Fourth Quarter Surge Sinks Mavericks in Mexico City

Jalen Duren's Career Night Powers Detroit to Victory at Arena CDMX

MEXICO CITY - Jalen Duren scored a career-high 33 points on 13-of-16 shooting, leading the Detroit Pistons to a 122-110 victory over the Dallas Mavericks at Arena CDMX in the 2025 NBA Mexico City Game on Saturday night.

Duren posted a double-double with 10 rebounds to complement his dominant scoring performance. The Pistons improved to 4-2 on the season, while the Mavericks fell to 2-4.

The Pistons allowed 30 or more points in each of the first three quarters, losing every period by an average margin of 2.6 points. In the fourth quarter, Detroit outscored Dallas 35-17 to pull away and secure the victory.
Isaiah Stewart provided a tremendous performance off the bench, contributing 10 points, four rebounds and two blocks, helping Detroit's "Dawg Pound" overcome the Mavericks' undermanned roster.

The Mavericks played without stars Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis, as well as starting center Dereck Lively II. D'Angelo Russell led Dallas with 31 points while making 7 threes, but Cooper Flagg struggled, finishing with 16 points on just 3/14 shooting. Dallas had eight turnovers in the first three quarters, but then coughed it up 7 times in the fourth, which proved costly.

Cade Cunningham was lethal passing with 18 assists and just one turnover to orchestrate the Pistons' offense.
Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff called it "an honor" to be asked to be part of the game and said the team wanted to "play well for the fans here". The game was held as part of traditional Día de Muertos celebrations, marking the league's 34th regular-season game in Mexico since 1992.
