DETROIT - After a three-hour rain delay that pushed the scheduled 4:08 p.m. ET start to 7 p.m. ET, the Seattle Mariners bounced back strong at Comerica Park in Detroit, taking Game 3 and a 2-1 series lead.

Pitching Matchup

Logan Gilbert made his playoff debut for the Mariners against Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty. Gilbert was excellent, allowing just one run on four hits with seven strikeouts and a hit batter over six innings. Flaherty struggled, lasting just 3 ⅓ innings while surrendering four runs (three earned) on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts on 76 pitches.

Seattle Breaks Through Early

The Mariners struck in the third inning when Victor Robles led off with a double to the left field corner. J.P. Crawford followed with a single to center, but when Tigers center fielder Riley Greene's throw home got away from catcher Dillon Dingler, Robles raced home for a 1-0 lead. Randy Arozarena then singled to drive in Crawford, who had advanced on the error, making it 2-0.

Mariners Pile On

In the fourth inning, Eugenio Suárez crushed a solo homer to left field off Flaherty for a 3-0 lead. After Flaherty walked Dominic Canzone, Tigers manager A.J. Hinch went to his bullpen, bringing in Tommy Kahnle. Cal Raleigh delivered an RBI single through the infield to score Canzone and extend the lead to 4-0.

J.P. Crawford added a solo home run in the sixth inning off left-hander Brant Hurter - notably the first home run by a left-handed hitter against Hurter all year. The Mariners led 5-1.

Insurance Runs

Luke Raley scored on a sacrifice fly by Crawford in the eighth after Kerry Carpenter dropped a fly ball in right field. Then in the ninth, Randy Arozarena doubled and Cal Raleigh launched a two-run homer to left field, pushing the lead to 8-1.

Detroit's Late Rally

The Tigers mounted a spirited ninth-inning comeback attempt against Mariners reliever Caleb Ferguson. Jake Rogers and Jahmai Jones reached base before Spencer Torkelson doubled to right-center, scoring both runs. Andy Ibáñez followed with an RBI single to make it 8-4. However, closer Andrés Muñoz came in and slammed the door, getting Dillon Dingler to fly out before Parker Meadows lined into a double play to end the game.
Series Update

With the victory, Seattle takes a 2-1 series lead and will look to advance to the ALCS with a win in Game 4 on Wednesday night in Detroit.
