Michigan

after
Underwood
capped a
91-yard
opening-quarter
drive
with his
long
scoring
run.
Kicker

Butkowski
added a
40-yard
field
goal
with
2:28
left in
the
second
quarter,
giving
the
Wolverines
a
two-score
cushion
entering
the
break.
Oklahoma
tightened
the game
in the
second
half,
scoring
a
touchdown
in the
third
quarter
and
adding a
field
goal in
the
fourth
to pull
even.
But
Michigan’s
defense
delivered
the
defining
sequence
with

controlling
the game
through
the air,
a key
contrast
from the
Sooners’
24-13
win over
the
Wolverines
in
Norman
last
season.
The
Wolverines
held
Oklahoma
scoreless
in the
first
half and
protected
their
lead
through
a tense
final
quarter.
Underwood
led
Michigan
in both
passing
and
rushing
yards,
while
his
first-quarter
touchdown
provided
the
game’s
early
spark.
The
victory
gives
Michigan
a major
nonconference
win
after
its
narrow,
controversial
13-12
opening-week
victory
over
Western
Michigan.
It also
avenges
last
year’s
loss to
Oklahoma
and
provides
an
immediate
statement
for Kyle
Whittingham’s
program
against
an
opponent
that
entered
the day
ranked
in the
top 10.
Michigan
was an
underdog
before
kickoff,
but the
Wolverines
controlled
the
