TAMPA, FL - The University of Michigan football team completed its 2024 season with a hard-fought 19-13 victory over No. 11 Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl on December 31 at Raymond James Stadium. The Wolverines demonstrated a strong defensive performance, marking their second consecutive bowl game win against Alabama.

With 2:18 left in the game and trailing by six points, Alabama attempted a final drive into the red zone. Michigan's defense applied pressure on quarterback Jalen Milroe, forcing a turnover on downs to secure the victory.

The Wolverines' defense was crucial, forcing three turnovers in the first quarter and limiting Alabama to -2 total yards. Michigan built an early 16-0 lead and, despite being outscored in the second quarter, shut out Alabama in the second half, allowing only 97 total yards.

Jordan Marshall led Michigan with 100 yards on 23 carries, while Fredrick Moore added three receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown. The Wolverines controlled the ball for 16 minutes longer than Alabama, which proved vital.

Michigan's defense set the tone, forcing turnovers on three of Alabama’s first four drives. Derrick Moore's opening series sack led to a field goal by Dominic Zvada, and Wesley Walker’s interception set up Michigan’s first touchdown.

Although Alabama narrowed the gap to 16-10 by halftime, Michigan extended the lead to 19-10 with another field goal in the fourth quarter. Alabama managed a field goal but failed on their final drive as Michigan denied them in the red zone.

With this victory, Michigan finished the season on a three-game winning streak, including wins over ranked opponents, finishing with an 8-5 record.
